Day 1

A morning at Zayed National Museum

Your first day begins in the heart of Saadiyat Cultural District at Zayed National Museum, a space dedicated to the life and legacy of the UAE’s founding father. The exhibitions focus on the country’s story, from early settlements to modern-day development, with a strong emphasis on identity and heritage.

Before lunch, take in some history

From there, continue to the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi right next door, just a kilometre away. This one shifts the focus entirely, looking at the natural world and scientific discovery in jaw-dropping exhibits.

Plan to spend a good part of your afternoon here. The scale of the exhibits makes it worth your while, especially if you’re travelling with family – kids love it here!

A lunch you won't want to rush

At this point, you deserve a break (and a bite). Head to Mamsha Al Saadiyat for a late lunch. Locals would recommend Antonia, a popular Italian spot known for its Roman-style pizza.

Grab a table and enjoy your meal before ambling to the beachfront. The beach here is one of the best on the island, with clear water and a relaxed atmosphere. Give yourself time to sit, stroll or swim before heading to your final stop – why not stay for sunset?

Afternoon exploring the Louvre

End your day as you started it: back in Saadiyat Cultural District for one of the best experiences on the island. Make your way to Louvre Abu Dhabi in the early evening. The building itself is worth seeing at this time of day, when the light changes and the iconic dome starts to cast patterned shadows.

Inside, the galleries take a broader view of art and history, with works from different civilisations placed side by side.

Evening dinner with views

Finish the day with dinner at Michelin-recognised Fouquet’s, located right inside the museum. The menu leans classic French within a polished setting.

This is a very convenient choice if you’re already at the Louvre, but there’s plenty more to choose from – NIRI Restaurant & Bar is widely considered Abu Dhabi’s top Japanese restaurant, and Beirut Sur Mer serves some of the best Lebanese cuisine in the capital.

Day 2

Morning relaxing at the beach club

Start your second day at Saadiyat Beach Club, one of the best places in Abu Dhabi to spend a relaxed morning by the sea. There’s direct Blue-flag beach access, comfortable seating, a fantastic pool and on-site dining including at Safina, a contemporary Mediterranean eatery.

Whether you swim, read, walk along the beach or just sit by the water, this is the ideal place to while away a few peaceful hours.

Lunchtime by the sea

If you didn’t fill up at Safina, consider heading back to Mamsha Al Saadiyat for lunch at Society Abu Dhabi, a popular spot for coffee, pastries and lighter meals.

The menu is flexible and extremely varied, so you can keep it simple or order something more filling depending on your mood.

An afternoon spa session

Use the afternoon to properly switch off at one of Saadiyat Island’s spa resorts. Talise Spa at Jumeirah Saadiyat Island and St. Regis Spa Saadiyat are both fantastic options, and you won’t go wrong with either.

Each offers a full range of luxurious treatments in a tranquil setting. Book something in advance, then take a couple of hours to reset before the evening.

Evening under the lights

By now, you’re so rested that you might just be ready to head out again. If that’s the case, now is the ideal time to squeeze in teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi or Manarat Al Saadiyat (or both – they’re walking distance apart).

teamLab Phenomena is a mind-bending interactive art experience, with digital installations that respond to movement, while Manarat Al Saadiyat is a cultural centre featuring rotating exhibitions and cultural programmes.

Dinner you'll never forget

Cap off the weekend with an extravagant dinner – why not? Maté Abu Dhabi is a cosy steakhouse specialising in Argentinian flavours with a Lebanese twist. Its menu is built around high-quality meat dishes grilled to absolute perfection.

If you want something different, the ever-popular Valgerand takes a Nordic approach, with cooking methods centred on fire and ancient preservation techniques.

Take your seat and plan your next trip to Saadiyat Island.
