Travel through time

Inspired by Sheikh Zayed’s belief that history guides the future, the museum explores the values that built the nation. Spend some time exploring the artefacts and photographs across the galleries and exhibitions of Zayed National Museum. There are over 1,500 objects on display and a collection of 3,000 artefacts held in trust, from ancient and living cultures of the Emirates and the wider region. The architecture

Zayed National Museum's architecture draws inspiration from the wing of a falcon in flight. Five towers reinterpret traditional barjeel wind towers, marrying heritage with climate-conscious engineering. Inside, the structure draws on the land’s natural cooling properties, while native plants and a traditional falaj irrigation system in the garden pay homage to Sheikh Zayed’s connection to desert, oasis and urban landscapes.

The museum was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, London.

Location

Saadiyat Cultural District, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi
