Getting to Al Maqtaa

Situated at the gateway between mainland Abu Dhabi and the islands beyond, Al Maqtaa is easy to reach by car, public transport or shuttle. The district is anchored by iconic landmarks like Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Al Maqtaa Fort, making it a popular stop.

One of the most convenient ways to get there is via the (free!) Experience Abu Dhabi Shuttle Bus. Route E serves Al Maqtaa directly, with stops at multiple hotels in the area as well as Al Qana Marina. From Al Qana, visitors can walk or take a short taxi ride to other nearby attractions, including the Grand Canal and Al Maqtaa Fort.

Abu Dhabi’s public buses also provide solid coverage of the area. Bus routes 54, 56 and 94 connect Al Maqtaa to central Abu Dhabi and surrounding neighbourhoods – take a look at the standard service timetable to plan your travel. These buses run frequently and stop near key landmarks and residential areas, making them an inexpensive and reliable option.

If you're arriving by taxi or ride-hailing app, the journey is smooth and well-signposted via Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street and Al Maqta’ Street. Travel time is around 20 minutes from both downtown Abu Dhabi and the airport.
