FAQs about wakeboarding and waterskiing

Wakeboarding in Abu Dhabi is available at a mix of natural and controlled settings. For high-speed boat towing, head to popular locations like the Corniche, Al Bateen, Yas Island, Al Maya or Sir Bani Yas. For a cable-controlled experience, Al Forsan International Sports Resort is your go-to spot. It features the region’s very first water cable park.

While wakeboarding lessons aren’t mandatory, they’re highly recommended if it’s your first time. Many providers, especially at cable parks like Al Forsan, offer beginner packages with instructor guidance. Lessons help you get the basics down, making your ride safer and a lot more enjoyable.

Water skiing can be challenging at first, especially during takeoff, but most beginners pick it up quickly with the right technique. It requires good core strength and balance, but the sense of speed and achievement once you're up on the skis makes the effort worthwhile. Lessons and calm waters (which Abu Dhabi has plenty of) make learning easier and more enjoyable.

A water cable park uses an overhead cable system instead of a boat to pull wakeboarders across the water. It’s a continuous loop that allows multiple riders to enjoy the course at once, often with jumps, rails and other obstacles for added fun. It’s ideal for anyone learning the sport and for riders who want consistent, controlled conditions.

At Al Forsan International Sports Resort, expect to pay around AED 140 for a one-hour session, AED 220 for two hours and AED 480 for four hours. Prices typically include equipment rental, access to the cable park and safety gear.

Water skiing prices in Abu Dhabi vary depending on the location and provider. Boat-towed sessions generally start around AED 300–400 for a 30-minute experience, including gear and instructor support.

If you’re looking to practice regularly, packages and multi-session deals may offer better value. It's best to check with individual operators – check out the complete list on the map above.
