An eFoil ride is a high-tech water experience that lets you glide above the surface of the sea using an electric-powered board with a hydrofoil underneath. As the board picks up speed, the foil lifts it out of the water, creating a smooth, silent sensation of flying. It’s like surfing, minus the waves.

eFoils, which are considered personal watercraft (PWCs), must comply with Abu Dhabi Maritime’s general PWC regulations. This includes operating only during daylight hours, keeping within one nautical mile of the shore, wearing a lifejacket and staying at least 60 metres from swimmers.

No previous experience is required. eFoiling is beginner-friendly and doesn’t demand the same balance or strength as traditional surfing or wakeboarding. Expert instruction and stable equipment ensures most people are able to stand and ride during their very first session.

Yes, eFoiling is designed with beginners in mind. You’ll get a safety briefing, equipment setup and on-water coaching from experienced instructors. Most sessions start with practice on your knees before standing up and ‘taking flight’. With calm waters and professional guidance, Abu Dhabi is an ideal environment for first-timers.

A typical eFoil session in Abu Dhabi lasts 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the package you choose. This includes gear fitting, a safety briefing, on-shore training and plenty of ride time on the water. Some providers also offer longer experiences for those who want more time to master the technique.
