The Evolution of Gulf Falconry

Organised by New York University Abu Dhabi Institute

It would be virtually impossible to make a study of modern Emirati culture without uncovering the popular mythologies surrounding falcons. Falcons and falconry are essential and visible cornerstones of cultural identity in the Emirates.

How did they get there? And, perhaps more importantly, where are they going? Can such ancient practices resist the relentless, hyper-modernisation of our way of life? This talk examines how the practice has evolved and what its next iteration may be.

Event speaker:
Mohammed Al Kamda, Founder of Al Kamda Falcons
