Ramadan Arcade is a unique event celebrating the community spirit of Ramadan in a contemporary setting.
Adopting the traditional elements of Ramadan and transforming them into contemporary concepts and trends, the event offers a new Ramadan experience featuring a diverse and vibrant assortment of interactive activities for visitors of all ages and interests to enjoy. The event features a variety of gaming activities, musical performances, workshops, retail outlets, and culinary experiences.
A diverse collection of traditional games, such as Karom, Jakaro, Hokm, Hand, and Barjees will be available, with the gaming zone featuring classic arcade games such as Pac Man, Mortal Combat, Space Invaders and Mario Kart. Players can also compete in set gaming tournaments on PlayStation’s Fifa.
A wide variety of creative activities and installations that aim to shed light on the importance of Islamic values during the Holy Month by showcasing contemporary and traditional art practices will be offered including musical performances, film screenings, art installations, workshops and discussions. A curated selection of modern films from the Muslim world will be screened.
An important cultural element of Ramadan is the traditions of the Majlis. Ramadan Arcade will feature a contemporary Majlis that will display a selection of popular old television series from around the region.
Musical performances will include Bait Al Oud and contemporary Arab guitar musicians, allowing audiences to enjoy the melodic tones of traditional Arab instruments. Bait Al Oud will offer music lessons in the Arabic instruments oud, qanun, cello and rebabah. The programme will conclude with a concert of Bait Al Oud’s vocal section with the participation of both teachers and students.
Ramadan-themed Creative Workshops
Ramadan-themed creative workshops in collaboration with Manarat Al Saadiyat’s Art Studio provides participants to create their own lanterns, recipe books, clay pots, infinity mirrors, and jewellery. Visitors can also take part in an Arabic and English poetry writing workshops.
For the first four days, visitors can indulge in a full retail experience featuring amazing local and international vendors and fashion designers, exquisite jewellers, and delicious food outlets by non-profit organisation Mirbad. Mirbad was founded by young Emirati girls who have come together to recreate a traditional souq, but with a modern and vibrant twist, all for charity.
