The Ayyala performance, which includes rhythmic movements, chanting and music, symbolises the ethos and gallantry of Bedouin life and reinforces the values of dignity and honour. Al-Ayyala has been performed by generations of men from across the United Arab Emirates. In 2014, Al-Ayyala was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Al Nahmeh: Chants of the sea

Date: From November 1, 2019 till May 24, 2020
Al-Naham is the professional chanter who performs these songs, making him an essential member of the crew. The captain of the boat chooses a specific chanter who has a deep and strong voice and the ability to inspire other members of the crew. Al-Naham usually chants emotional and romantic songs and poems, mostly passed down through generations. The Nahmeh performance will be included in the marine demonstration.

Al Rebabah: Voices of the desert

Al Taghrooda: Poetry In Song

Date: From November 1, 2019 till May 24, 2020
Al-Taghrooda is a traditional type of chanted poetry and is often recited by men travelling on camelback through the desert. It has its origins in the desert and mountainous regions, and rural villages of the United Arab Emirates as a form of improvised poetry among Bedouin camel riders and herders. Today, it is found throughout the nation and is a beloved component of UAE culture.

Al Razfa: Dance of Unity

Date: From November 1, 2019 till May 24, 2020
Performed at weddings, national holidays and other special events, Al-Razfa is a popular Emirati performance that combines poetry with a dance that uses thin bamboo canes. In the past, swords or daggers were used instead of canes. Once unique to Bedouin communities and groups in the Al Dhafra desert areas west of Abu Dhabi city, Al-Razfa has spread throughout the UAE, to cities, and both coastal and mountainous regions.
