The United Arab Emirates, represented by the State Audit Institution, will host the eighth session of the Conference of the State Parties to the United Nation Convention against Corruption.

The State Audit Institution firmly believes in the importance of participation of civil community in fighting corruption and preventing all of its forms.

The session will be chaired by H.E. Dr. Harib Al Amimi, President of the State Audit Institution of the United Arab Emirates. More than 2, 000 participants are expected to take part in this conference, representing the agencies responsible of anti-corruption in States Signatories to the Agreement, in addition to representatives of international organisations, civil community institutions, universities and professional institutions.

The Conference of the States Parties (COSP) is the main policy-making body of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. It supports States parties and signatories in their implementation of the Convention and gives policy guidance to UNODC to develop and implement anti-corruption activities.

The Conference was established, as per article 63 of the Convention:

- To improve the capacity of States to implement the Convention;
- To enhance cooperation among States in achieving the objectives of the Convention
- To promote and review the implementation of the Convention

The Conference meets every two years and adops resolutions and decisions in furtherance of its mandate.
