While this is the perfect place for seasoned petrol-heads, it’s also a fun spot for those with only a fleeting interest in automobile antiquities.

Situated in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi’s lush garden city about one and a half hours away from the capital, the Al Ain Classic Car Museum combines history and style, collecting, preserving and exhibiting vehicles and informative books related to the evolution of transportation in the UAE.

Established by Captain Rashid Mohammad Al Tamimi, passionate gearhead and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Classic Car Club, the museum started as a small collection of personal and member cars sheltered under a traditional khaima (tent) in 2009, and grew to a 2,000-square-metre air-conditioned building that continues to see expansion.
