In Abu Dhabi, there are a variety of beautiful spaces and places to explore while on foot. Wherever you’re staying, you can step outside to beautiful weather and surroundings for a run any time of day. Of course, most hotels and buildings in the emirate have gyms to run in, but if you want to get out, there are streets, tracks and unique destinations to explore. The fact that Abu Dhabi has also been voted one of the safest cities in the world will give you peace of mind and make your workout even sweeter. Keep fit at some of the most remarkable locations below.

Yas Marina Circuit

Winding its way around the beautiful Yas Marina, the impressive Yas Marina Circuit is one of the world’s most epic race tracks, home to the Formula 1™ Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Believe it or not, this is also a running track in Abu Dhabi. You can walk and run around the circuit as part of the TrainYAS and GoYAS by Daman ActiveLife programmes.

Abu Dhabi Corniche

If you’re looking to soak up Abu Dhabi’s famous year-round sunshine, the immaculate Abu Dhabi Corniche and Corniche Beach are two of the best places to do it. For a more private workout along the Corniche, head to Nation Riviera Beach Club.

Reem Island

If Reem Island is where you’re staying, then you’re in the perfect place for a run or walk. If you begin at the green space of Al Fay park you can make your way north to Reem Beach, where you’ll find a running track that overlooks a pocket of the mangrove forest. You’ll also find softer surfaces along your route to make getting in the distance much easier.

Al Wathba Cycle Track

Al Wathba Cycle Track is one of the best and most scenic cycling and running destinations in the UAE. Surrounded by miles and miles of desert, this area’s ethereal landscape played a starring role in the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Designed for cyclists and runners, the 30km track promises picturesque vistas, especially during sunrise and sunset.

Zayed Sports City

This mammoth sports complex is home to everything from basketball and beach volleyball facilities, to tennis courts, a football stadium and a fitness centre. For runners, there are two tracks, a 400m oval track and a 1.4km track which loops around the national stadium. You can also get involved with regular running events during the cooler months.

Masdar City Running & Cycling Track

Both residents and travellers flock to the extremely well kept Masdar City Running and Cycling Track, at Masdar’s Al Mamsha trail. The family-friendly running track starts at Masdar Park and stretches for 5.6 kilometres around the city.

Jebel Hafit Desert Park

Pack a sense of adventure and get ready to immerse yourself in the rich history and incredible landscapes at the one-of-a-kind Jebel Hafit Desert Park in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi’s lush garden city, about one and a half hours away from the capital. The nine-kilometre stretch at the base of the craggy Jebel Hafit mountain, Abu Dhabi’s tallest peak, can be explored while running, hiking, biking, horse riding or camel riding. It’s recommended to wait until the cooler months to run at the Jebel Hafit Desert Park.
