Abu Dhabi is an amazing city to cycle in whether you’re a pro rider or a leisure cyclist. Cycling in Abu Dhabi has become super accessible with bike sharing available all over the city as well as miles of new cycle paths and tracks. Beautiful weather and stunning scenery makes the city a great place to get fit on your bike or travel from place to place. The Corniche and Reem island are popular spots for cycling. Even out in the desert, adrenaline junkies are on their bikes cycling through Al Wathba or the sand dunes of Al Dhafra.

Corniche

The Corniche stretches 8km through the city with the impressive skyline on one side and the Arabian Gulf another. These unique sights are best enjoyed on a bike. You can use one of the cities bike sharing options or hire through a indiependent rental company. FunRideSports hires out a variety of bikes, from mountain bikes for the more adventurous to city bikes that can fit two or three passengers on the back, and even specially designed bikes for ladies wearing abayas.

Al Wathba Cycle Track

Al Wathba Cycle Track is one of the best cycling destinations in the UAE. Surrounded by miles and miles of desert, cycling on this track promises picturesque vistas, especially during sunrise and sunset. The illuminated track is 30 kilometres long and can be broken down into four routes. Beginner cyclists can ride the 8-kilometre or 16-kilometre route, while expert cyclists can take on the 20-kilometre, 22-kilometre option or ride the entire 30 kilometres. The track is located near the Camel Race Track and is approximately a 40- to 50-minute drive from Abu Dhabi by car.

Cycle on Yas Island

The island has a purpose-built cycling infrastructure that features modern cycle paths, signage, maps, water stations, shaded rest areas and stands. The most unique cycling experience of all is down at Yas Marina Circuit. The TrainYAS and GoYAS training programmes open the track up for cyclists with rental options too. Take your bike around the same track that the greatest F1 drivers master every year.

Dune Cycling
