The key turns, the door swings open, and for a moment it's just me. I always take that minute standing in the stillness before the day begins, looking at the space I built with my own hands - Tara Rose Salon, on Saadiyat Island. It's a reminder of how far this place has come, and how much of myself I poured into it to get here.

When the room fills, the conversation is unhurried, honest, held together by the trust that builds when someone lets you take care of them, week after week, year after year. One of my clients has been coming since the beginning. Somewhere along the way, she stopped being a client and became a friend.

By the end of the day, the salon has been a lot of things. A place for laughter and for listening. For the kind of honesty that only comes when people feel safe. I didn't just build a business here, I built a community. And every evening when I lock that door behind me, I'm grateful for every person who walked through it.
