Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge: A Legacy of Motorsport Excellence

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious international cross-country rallies. Founded in 1991 by Emirati motorsport legend and current FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the event is organised by the Emirates Motorsports Organization (EMSO). Over the years, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge has rapidly gained global fame, attracting the biggest names in international motorsport, all aiming to conquer the challenging dunes of the UAE's Rub' Al Khali Desert – the world’s largest sand desert.

Thanks to the continued support of the Abu Dhabi Government, through a strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and energy partner ADNOC Distribution, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge has earned a reputation for being one of the safest and most professionally organised events in motorsport. The event leverages Abu Dhabi's world-class infrastructure, providing participants with an unmatched experience. Today, it is recognised as one of the most technical races on the international motorsport calendar.
