The Sultan Fort

The Sultan Fort once sat at the heart of the former village or hara of Al Ain, which also took its alternative name of Haret Al Hosn from the fort. It is one of several historic buildings associated with the ruling Al Nahyan family in Al Ain from the end of the 19th century onwards.

Relics & gifts

The museum displays imported Mesopotamian (modern Iraq) pots dating back 5,000 years, and other objects, like jewellery, copper and bronze weapons, which were found in these tombs. The stone-constructed, above-ground tombs are a key feature of the Bronze Age.

Several gifts on display were given by presidents and ambassadors from around the world. The moon rock gifted by NASA following the historic Apollo 17 trip to the moon is a key item.
