You’ll find an impressive array of reputable and impressive galleries throughout the capital, featuring interesting exhibitions showcasing local and international art, as well as traditional Arabian artefacts. The Folklore Gallery (Khalidiya Street, +971 2 666 0361) is a great place to browse displays of local pottery and art, and it has an excellent framing service.
Hemisphere Design Studio & Gallery (Khalifa Street, +971 2 676 8614) is an independent gallery showcasing works by local artists.
The Etihad Modern Art Gallery (+971 2 621 0145) is one of the most recent and vibrant additions to the capital’s art scene. Located on Al Huwelat Street, opposite Al Bateen Mall, the gallery encourages the creation of art with local references, showcasing work from well-established and upcoming Emirati and international artists. The gallery is open Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from 11am to 6pm, and when you’re done perusing the art, you can pick up something to eat and drink at the funky Art House Café next door.
