Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2021 will bring cultural leaders, artists and performers together for a thought-provoking forum of knowledge exchange, debates and policy development.
‘The Cultural Economy’ is linked to the creative economy which includes advertising, architecture, arts and crafts, design, fashion, film, video, photography, music, performing arts, publishing, research and development, computer games, electronic publishing, TV and radio, while ‘The Economy of Culture’ relates to the wider cultural economy and connecting the behaviour of cultural producers and consumers.
Partners for the 2021 edition include UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation), Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation & Museum, The Economist Events, Google, London’s Design Museum, UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), Louvre Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi’s Cultural Foundation, Berklee Abu Dhabi and Institut Français. Sub-themes throughout the summit include ‘Post-COVID Sector Recovery and Transformation’ and ‘International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development’.
The global nature and the presence of high profile participants at the summit add yet another dimension to Abu Dhabi’s growing role as an international cultural destination. The event will be streamed live on their official YouTube Channel, and will include keynote talks, panel discussions, one-on-one conversations, case studies, curated artist talks, film screenings and performances.
