As we continue to navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis, museums have proven vital in helping communities find comfort, empathy, and understanding.

Today they occupy an often disputed space in light of repressed histories, voices, images, and memories but also profound transformation of creative practices and the rise of new technological possibilities for bringing the museum outside its walls. In this context, how can museum leaders and practitioners re-invent their institutions to remain relevant?

How should museum practice evolve in order to transmit cultural practices and heritage from the past in the future? How could museum reshape our civic and communal experiences?

This November, two leading institutions at the heart of Saadiyat Island– Louvre Abu Dhabi and NYU Abu Dhabi will, for the first time, co-present the global symposium: Reframing Museums. Global scholars, academics, established and emerging artists, and international museum experts will convene to discuss, interrogate, and reimagine the art museum of the future, building together new frameworks for museum practice.

This live, virtual event will be open to the public and tackle the most pressing issues facing art museums today through a series of roundtable discussions, keynote speeches, case study presentations and participative world café discussions.
