NANTA – one of Korea’s top comic musicals, also known as ‘COOKIN’ – is to open Gourmet Abu Dhabi 2012 – the 16-day culinary festival which features a star-studded cast of master chefs, celebrities and special guests serving up the finest of dining across 20 host venues in the UAE capital.

T
aking to the lawns of the newly-opened The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa for the opening evening of February 8, the Korean show will bring to Abu Dhabi a highly successful mime act full of reckless rhythms and comedy: when an ill-natured restaurant manager brings his small nephew to his kitchen to learning the art of cooking, the move deteriorates into a boxing match between kitchen staff. In NANTA – one of the most popular shows in Korea since it premiered 14 years ago - knives and other kitchen utensils are transformed into musical instruments.

A
word of warning though – the audience can become part of the show with performers enlisting spectators as the bride and groom in a traditional Korean wedding ceremony, to compete in dumpling stacking and to interact with the performers.

T
ickets for Gourmet Abu Dhabi Gala Opening are AED450 and available from gourmetabudhabi.ae
