Paul Casey, the English gentleman of modern-day golf, says
he’ll be going all-out next month to match German Martin Kaymer’s record
of three titles in the PGA European Tour-backed Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship (January 26-29)
Casey, who lifted Abu Dhabi’s ‘Falcon Trophy’ in 2007 and
2009, says while he’s looking to break the run of defending champion
Kaymer, the task is toughened by the challenge of holding off the
Championship’s strongest field to date.
The awe-inspiring line-up already includes three reigning
Major winners: Charl Schwartzel (US Masters); Rory McIlroy (US Open) and
Darren Clarke (British Open), World number one, Luke Donald, World
number three, Lee Westwood and Abu Dhabi debutant and 14-time Major
winner, Tiger Woods. Australia’s Jason Day, the current world number
eight and Korean sensation KJ Choi, the current world number 15 have
also declared their intent to win their first Middle East title in
January and a share of the US $2.7 million prize fund.
Tickets for championship are available via the event’s official website, www.abudhabigolfchampionship.com, as well as online at www.timeouttickets.com and www.itptickets.com. Phone bookings can be made through the ITP toll-free hotline 800 4669, or for international visitors, +971 4 210 8943.
