The much-loved cast of Cartoonival, the live-action Cartoon Network spectacular that closes out this year’s Summer in Abu Dhabi festival, arrived at
Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), ready to embark on their 12-show run at Abu Dhabi Hall.
The Cartoonival cast features some of Cartoon Network’s most famous characters, including the Powerpuff Girls, Dexter’s Laboratory stars, Dexter the Boy Genius and his meddling sister, Didi, and special guest monkey, Mojo Jojo.

Big Bus Tours double-decker. The tour operator, one of Summer in Abu Dhabi’s mainline attraction partners, is offering visitors two free children’s tickets for their ‘Hop-on, Hop-off’ city tours for every purchase of two adult tickets during the festival, which ends July 30.
With daily performances at 7:30pm, plus a 3pm matinee show on weekends, Cartoonival also stars Bloo and the Gang from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, as well as Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi. Tickets for the show are AED 150 (US$ 41) for over-12s and adults and AED 75 (US$ 20.5) for under-12s. Tickets are available from boxofficemiddleeast.com and those buying two tickets will receive a third free.
Staged in ADNEC’s 5,000-capacity Abu Dhabi Hall, the 70-minute live action spectacular is not the festival’s only closing highlight. Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants will appear in ‘Stories of SpongeBob’, the final stage performance in ‘Show World’ - a specially-constructed, 220-capacity theatre that is free-to-enter with a regular ADNEC ticket.
With entry rates of AED 20 (US$ 5.5) for children aged up to 12 years old – toddlers up to two years old go free - and AED 40 (US$ 11) for adults, Summer in Abu Dhabi at ADNEC is open from 3-9pm on weekdays and 2-10pm on weekends.
Tickets also entitle visitors to a host of other discount deals around the emirate’s various attractions, hotels and tour operators, including a ‘Kids Go Free’ offer at the fabulous Ferrari World Abu Dhabi for youngsters under 1.5 metres in height.
