Cycle the Corniche
A fun and healthy way to tour the Corniche is to hire a bicycle.  FunRideSports hires out a variety of bikes - from mountain bikes, for the more adventurous, to city bikes which can fit two or three passengers on the back, and even specially designed bikes for ladies wearing abayas.

FunRideSports has four accessible rental stations along the Corniche boardwalk and its main station outside The Hiltonia Beach Club. Bike hire starts at AED 20 (US$ 5) per hour for adults and AED 15 (US$ 4) for children. Voucher booklets for 15 hours of cycling are also available for AED 200 (US$ 54).

Cycle Yas Island
The island has a purpose-built cycling infrastructure which features modern cycle paths, signage, maps, water stations, shaded rest areas and stands.
As an eco-friendly way of roaming around, Fun Ride Sports offers a distinctive cycling experience. You can rent a bike or join a guided island tour at the Yas Plaza Bike Rental Station. Timings – 9am to 8pm

Dune cycling at Qasr al Sarab
The award-winning five-star Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara has become the region’s first resort  to introduce fat biking as a guest activity. With a fleet of 10 fat bikes – bicycles which have 4.8 inch width tyres which can be deflated to tackle the enormous dunes which surround the resort – guests aged 14 and over can now cycle the awe-inspiring sand peaks of the Empty Quarter – the world’s largest uninterrupted sand mass.

In a session of one and a half to two hours, guests can travel between 7 to 10 kilometres amid some of the most stunning scenery in Arabia. The tour is in the company of a trained guide who points out to the bikers some of the intricacies of this desert – such as animal tracks and indigenous fauna and flora.

Qasr Al Sarab fat biking sessions cost AED 175 (US $48).


Fairmont Pedal Power
The five-star Fairmont Bab Al Bahr has teamed up with Mercedes to give guests the option of renting Mercedes bikes during their stay. Members of Fairmont President Club (FPC), the chain’s guest recognition programme, have complimentary use of the bikes while non-FPC members can rent them at for AED 50 (US$ 13.70) per hour.

All guests receive a safety helmet and a cycling map which outlines suggested routes in the hotel’s surrounding area. Routes come in three, five and 10km options. If that’s not enough, Fairmont cyclists can take the bikes over to the nearby Yas Marina Circuit on Tuesdays - the home of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for its free-to-enter ‘Train Yas Tuesdays’.

The Fairmont Bab Al Bahr encourages guests to use the bikes during daylight hours (6am-6pm) and children must be accompanied by a parent. Bookings are made through the hotel’s Guest Services desk.
